Our GAMMA package is a shared virtual instance of Liferay, which provides you a private Liferay instance, but does require that we install any custom themes or plug-ins for you and they are available to all tenants of the installation. If you care to provide a custom theme, it must be completely unique from other LIferay theme packages; building your theme using Liferay's prescribed developer procedures is recommended. Your content and configuration is stored securely within the Liferay architecture, but is stored physically within a single shared Liferay installation. To upgrade this installation requires that you manually export and import your content using Liferay's Community Import/Export Functionality; this is not recommended for large asset or document repositories. No filesystem or OS level access is provided.
Our DELTA package is a complete stand-alone installation of Liferay including framework, db scheema, and file repository. This provides you with complete control to install custom themes and plug-ins yourself and is portable (relocatable). You can override default themes; uniqueness of the theme is not required as with the GAMMA option. With this bundle you may create unlimited virtual instances of Liferay within this single physical installation. No filesystem or OS level access is provided.
Our EPSiLON package is installed on a dedicated server OS and includes all of the benefits of the DELTA bundle. Additionally, you have complete control of the environment including root access to the operating system and the ability to install and manage additional services on a needs basis. We offer support for a variety of operating systems (license fees may apply). This configuration typically includes email, DNS, and other standard Web services as a feature of the host operating system.
Yes. We monitor our systems and will respond to network, system, or application container-level failures 24hrs/day. If you apply a change that breaks the configuration of an operating installation, additional support may be required to repair or restore the environment.
Yes, backups are run hourly; off-sites monthly. Our backups are designed for disaster recovery purposes only as all of our production systems are already running on fully mirrored and redundant filesystems. Our retention policy is variable and based upon data volume. This means we can typically roll back to the previous day, week, or month, but with sporadic snapshots between periods.
We use MySQL 5 and it is configured as part of the installation. With our EPSILON bundle you have complete control of the system and direct access to the database server and OS.
We are not a Certificate Authority and do not handle domain registration unless you care to register as a sub-domain of omegabit.com. Our Professional Services group can help with this process on request.
With our GAMMA bundle, you are provided an IP address that is shared with other tenants of the system. With our DELTA and EPSILON package you're provided a dedicated IP address.
Our installations come standard with all of the portlets included with the Liferay distribution. For a list of included features please see:
We can install additional Liferay Community sourced portlets to the GAMMA bundle for you on request. With our DELTA and EPSILON bundles you have administrative control to install your own portlets, including your own custom portlets. Depending upon the nature of your portlet, for example if it requires other backend services, the DELTA bundle may not be sufficient. If you can provide us some idea of what your custom portlet is designed to do we can help you to determine exactly what backend dependencies exist. Our goal is to work with you to provide a usable and cost-effective environment for you to manage your customizations while ensuring the security and stability expected of our production environments.
With our DELTA package we can apply changes to these configuration files for you. With our EPSILON package you have full administrative control of the OS and can apply changes directly. No access is provided with the GAMMA package.
Only with our EPSILON bundle, and we would want to work with you to adjust our monitoring and response policies so that we do not step on your activities in the system. Many of our customers prefer to subscribe to multiple environments to accommodate development and production services with different monitoring policies enforced.
Our terms are month to month with a one-time subscription sign-up fee.
We are very proud of our world-class hosting facilities designed for global performance, high availability and security. All of our installations feature the following:
Carrier Redundant Facility w/Direct Cross connects to: SBC, Qwest, TWTC, O1, Broadwing and more
Global Performance Response Time Monitoring
Fault-tolerant Battery + Generator Backup "continuous" Power
Biometric Facilities Security
Enhanced Fire Suppression (VESDA & other measures)

Professional Network Monitoring 24/7/365 and On-premises Attendance
All of our systems include redundant filesystems, regular backups, liferay-specific monitoring and 24hr response to incidents
We own and operate all of our firewall and server equipment
We operate on a co-op principle. Our hosting facility has multiple carrier-class (OC) connections to the Internet and we do not throttle or limit the throughput of your system by default. What this means is that peak traffic to your site can spike substantially beyond any practical limit for brief periods with no impact on cost to you. Our carrier charges us for the 95 percentile of our traffic, and in this co-op model our clients typically enjoy performance that is well beyond the practical limits of a standard hosting agreement by sharing a larger pipe, collectively.
We do plan for a certain amount of bandwidth to be utilized by our installations, on average, over time. For the DELTA bundle you are essentially guaranteed throughput, which translates into tens-of-Gigabytes of theoretical transfer capacity per month. Our other packages scale up or down accordingly. We do monitor usage trends for our installations. If your system is consistently using a disproportionate amount of our co-op bandwidth, we may opt to offer you additional guaranteed sustained throughput at a competitive market rate, or to throttle the overall throughput of your system to meet or exceed your minimum guaranteed throughput at your discretion.
